CCR CLIENT STORY

Trent broke up with Jess after hearing rumors that she cheated on him. Jess and her friends confronted Trent, and he shoved Jess. A fight broke out, resulting in Trent’s arrest.

They were referred to mediation. Trent revealed that he was trying to avoid being recruited into a gang at school. It was rumored that Jess had been cheating with a member of a rival gang. Trent’s recruiters threatened to address the situation if he didn’t handle it himself.

Jess didn't know any of this before. She insisted that she hadn’t cheated on him. The mediator repeated the parties’ needs and emotions back to them. Both felt hurt by the other, and both of them needed safety.

The two apologized for not talking and for letting things get physical between them. They agreed to tell everyone that the cheating rumors were not true, and that they were back together.

Two sets of hands cup a shiny red heart-shaped stone.
